Trip to Wyoming

I know, I know. My next blog was supposed to be pics of the town I live in but I am waiting for them to finish fixing the sidewalk in front of the courthouse. When they do I will be sure to get out and take some pics of the town. But for now, you get pics from my trip to my sister Kellie's in Wyoming.

I went to Idaho Falls with my mom and met Kellie and the girls there. I then went to Wyoming with them. I stayed a week. It was an eventful week but we had a good time. The first full day I was there it began with rain and then we got snow. It was a good day to just stay home, eat soup and be cozy. The rest of the week was nice though.

That evening the clouds provied great lighting. I got some great pictures.

The mountains also provided amazing sunsets.

There were lots and lots of antelope. This one came up in the yard and snorted at me. I said to it, "Why are you snorting me? This is our yard you are in."

On Saturday, we went up further in the mountains. There was a beautiful lake up there and the girls had fun. The rest of the blog will just be pics.

Moving

So my trip home was rather uneventful. But let me back up. I am so thankful for my friends who helped me pack and move. I felt a bit crazy towards the end and probably wouldn't have left till Sunday had they not helped. But I got off close to the time planned. I met Kelly for breakfast Saturday which was a great start to a very long day. I left Temple about 5:30am. Saturday was my longest drive. And getting out of Texas was the biggest part of the day. But the sky was overcast and it rained a bit. It was nice so that the sun wasn't in my eyes so much.

The time that took to get out of Texas was a bit longer than I expected so once I reached Happy I was happy to be close to the border. I did decide that the northern pan handle is much prettier than the land south of it. It becomes greener and more hills. But once I reached this sign, I breathed a sigh of relief knowing that this sign means a majority of the first day's drive was over.

My time in New Mexico was rather short lived. I only spent 2 hours in New Mexico. But northern New Mexico is beautiful and getting through New Mexico put me oh so close to Denver.

The sun finally came out in Colorado. And I was glad to be in the state where I was spending the night. My plan was to stop in Pueblo for gas and to stretch. But the state fair was going on in Pueblo so I decided to drive on. I didn't really want to stop in Colorado Springs, so I drove on. I finally found a starbucks so I stopped in Monument about 45 minutes from the hotel. I had some difficulty getting gas. I first stopped at starbucks and then went on to get gas. Apparently, you have to be a member of Safeway to get gas at Safeway. Who knew! Then I stopped at Circle K for gas but they did not have pay at the pump and by this time I did not want to walk inside. So I drove across the street for gas at the 7-11. I left the 7-11 and headed to get back on the interstate. I had a brain lapse moment where I thought I was in Texas and tried to use the Texas road system. It doesn't work so great in Colorado. So I got a bit lost and spent a little extra in Monument. After finally getting back on the highway, I reached Denver and was very glad to get to the hotel. Prissy was also glad to be at the hotel. She had been in her carrier for way too long.

Sunday morning we got up and left Denver around 7:30. Sunday's drive was a good one. I took lots more pictures. Getting out of Colorado is a pleasurable drive especially after you reach Ft. Collins. The foothills are beautiful.

Unfortunately, Wyoming was rather unwelcoming. I only saw the back of the sign welcoming everyone to Colorado and a sign telling you to slow down when passing emergency vehicles on the side of the road. However, Laramie was quite welcoming and some say it's a great place to live.

However, reaching I-80 was very nice. It brought about higher speeds and lots less traffic.

There were a few crazies out there though. Like the SUV driven by a Texan.

A well known Wyomingian once told me that Wyoming has 5 highway patrolmen. I was one of the fortunate to see all 5 in one day. The first and the fifth patrolmen I saw were rather uneventful, however, seeing 2 -4 was fairly eventful espcially for the guy they had pulled over. I stopped to get gas in Rawlins at the place I normally get gas when driving through there. As I was turning onto the road with the gas station on it, I see 3 highway patrolmen. They have a car pulled over. The driver of the car is sitting on the front bumper of the patrolmen's vehicle. The officers had pulled bags out of the car and were rifling through them. Obviously, they were looking for drugs or illegal substances. Lots of people were at the gas station watching all of this happen. I only watched long enough to get gas. I should have gotten a picture while I was watching but I didn't think of it until I was down the road.

Eastern Wyoming

While getting gas at Little America, I saw someone from American Falls. I didn't know them but the convenience of Idaho license plates tells me where they are from. I caught up with them later in a construction zone. merica, the guy working at the counter hit on me. It was a bit odd to me. I guess just the way he was hitting on me was odd. There was lots and lots of construction on Hwy 30. It got very old rather quickly. But the construction took me into my home state.

My trip ended with a thunderstorm/windstorm. It rained pretty good for quite some time. I had about an hour to drive through the storm. So it wasn't too bad.

And after 25 hours of driving, I finally made it home.

It still feels a bit like vacation but I'm sure after a few weeks things will become normal and comfortable. My mom has been making me workout in the mornings. I know it's good for me but I am completely exhausted at night.
